I'm a huge fan of coding, and i really love how talented humans can be. I know a little bit about a lot when it comes to coding. and over the years I've learnt enough to get by.

But if i could do it again or for someone just coming into the world of web dev what coding languages would you tell them to focus on.

Lets assume they want to make a website, and have it smart enough to perform some tasks like count visitors, contact forms, menus, blogging type system  etcc.. but they where hell bent on making it from scratch with their own two hands and lots of coffee.

but with this said, maybe i could kinda rephrase the question, what are the most useful coding languages in order from 1 to 5 style list?

I'm not the best coder in the world.

But personally, there are 4 I use on almost every project I do online, and im sure millions of others are as well. I'd consider these the most important to learn and possibly the easiest due to them being such commonly used languages.

Disclaimer: for the purist's. yes I know HTML and CSS is not a programming language, it's mark-up!

Here's how id list them from most important to least this is all subjective however, but what you should take away from this regardless of order is. Learn these 4 you will be able to build almost anything online if you master them.

  1. PHP
  2. CSS
  3. HTML
